Get it Done

Lately I've been making a lot of excuses not to write.

The last few weeks have been NUTS. We've had a slew of school activities, doctor's visits, and volunteer commitments. Now, we're in the middle of a pretty big remodeling project and my four-year-old just started puking.

Nice.

I decided to let my writing time slide, thinking I'd get back to it when I'm not so swamped.

Then I read this on Jody Hedlund's blog, and realized I need to make time to write. Life is chaotic, but I know I can carve out an hour to write, even on my busiest days, as long as I make it a priority.

I NEED that hour.

I'm going to try harder to make it happen.

Do you struggle to fit writing into your daily schedule?

It sure is tough, especially during those times when you're just tired or lacking in inspiration. It's easy enough those times when you're filled with excitement and can't wait to get to the computer to write something. The trick is to stay motivated when you're not feeling so keen.

Life is never dull, at least. Right? :D

It's editing time right now. I usually love editing, but I have little time, or energy, now that school's started back up. There's always other stuff to do--it's so hard to find that hour to just get it done.

It's easy to make excuses but I try to write SOMETHING everyday. Even if it's just a sentence!

I always find time to write...it's making the time to send out query letters. I find so many excuses to twiddle time away...like cleaning crud from my phone.

Our lives sound disturbingly similar right now, and I have NOT been good about writing time, either. Isn't it great that we can count on people like Jody to keep us going?! :-)

Isn't she inspiring? I think of Jody writing with her kids sliding down the stairs in the laundry basket and I think if she can keep going, I can, too.

Jody gives good advice.
And I think you should make time to write because then I'll get to read it. :)
