You Gotta Have Friends

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the sweet comments and well wishes and emails and everything this week. You're all wonderful.

It's been kind of a stinky time, I'm not going to lie, but the baby and I are doing okay and I'll be 30 weeks along on Sunday, which is good.

I managed to get some writing done this week! It feels so great to accomplish something again. I am inching along on this manuscript, but I really love what I've got so far, so that's encouraging.

And I made a surprise appearance at RWA on Thursday to hang out with two of my favorite people, Sara Megibow and Karen Hooper!
My trip was made possible by the photoshopping skills of the talented Megan Rebekah (I love that she added a pregnant belly!), and the photography skills of the lovely Tiffany Reisz. You girls are awesome. :)

I've been following all the RWA tweets and blogs all week and that has been ALMOST as fun as being there. It sounds amazing. I will make it there someday! Karen has had a bunch of great updates on her blog, so if you want the inside scoop you should check it out.

I looked at my summer word count yesterday and it's shockingly low. I've only written about 5000 words since June 1. Granted, it's been a crazy summer. I'm just hoping the quality is a little better than usual and that's why it's taking forever.

How has summer been for your writing? Are you more productive, less productive, or about the same during summer months?

I thought it was a cardboard cut out at first. I was like, wow, Natalie is so popular she even has her own cutout at the convention.... :O)

I'm glad you're doing well. I hope the rest of the pregnancy is fine too. Take care of yourself.

Um...I've written about 100k since the start of June BUT I don't have any kids AND it's winter so there's nothing else to do. Plus, my quality is probably far below yours.

Glad things are going well.

Love your photo - that's so awesome :)

I expected to have more time, but even my summer's been crazy chaos! :)

I'm glad you are okay. =)

I've learned this summer, that I don't do as well as the other seasons. It must be the sun.

I'm so sorry you've had such a rough time lately. Don't hassle yourself about word count or blogging or anything. Take it easy. And, by the way, you have the bestest friends--that photo is priceless.

I backed up a little to get caught up on news. I'm so happy to hear that things are looking good now for you and baby. You look adorable in the picture, btw!! Take care and keep us posted. :-)

What a fun photo. Natalie, please get some rest and don't worry about your word count. I've only written 6000 words since June 1st and I don't have the pregnancy excuse! Just work and life getting in the way as usual...

Take care of yourself.

Hope you're doing well and getting lots of rest!!

I am too sad to read tweets and such from RWA. I am so depressed that I couldn't go. It's in DISNEY WORLD!!!! My favorite place on earth!!

Glad that you could at least be there in spirit...love the pic!!! That's so awesome!!

My summer is actually been very productive...which is shocking me.

Great picture!

Don't worry about word count. You're writing!

I've been rather slack this month, but August should be better.

Take care.

I planned to finish Book #2 by July, but have hardly written anything. Instead, I've done a ton of revisions on Book #1.

So your excuse is better than mine!

Oh, Natalie! I'm sorry to hear about the illness, but I'm so happy that you're feeling better and that the doctors are giving you good news. I'm praying for you, baby and family!

Those are special friends indeed!!

My summer has been spent re-writing, as I revise and edit my manuscript. I feel like I'm trying to run in quicksand. So don't fret over your word count...at least your making progress. :)

Glad to hear that you and baby are doing well. You will be 30 weeks on Sunday and I'll be 29 weeks! Although, I already know that my drs. are going to induce me (I tend to have very large babies). As for writing in the summer, not going so well. I'm in the process of going through my last revision and am having a hard time (did I mention we're trying to sell our house and buy a new one also?) I did just have a new idea for another story the other day, so we'll see where that takes me!

Good luck with your pregnancy. My sister is due September 8th, and I'm standing by her every step of the way. It's an exciting and scary time.

Hi Natalie, I hope things get better for you soon, and also am glad you and the baby are doing okay. That's really the most important thing.

My summer writing has been a mix of productive times followed by not so productive times mostly because I've been doing a few other things. I'm getting back into a first draft this week. About 10k to go.

I don't think my writing so much goes with the seasons but is more related to the projects I'm working on.

Anyway, I hope things remain stable and you get a little more writing in if you can.

I'm glad you're hanging in there! Hope all continues to go well/get better.

I haven't done as much as I thought I would, but it has been a crazy summer for me as well. I have gotten more reading done than usual on all of my roadtrips, so that's something... right? ;)

Oh goodness. I've been considerably UN-productive this summer. Of course, having a newborn might have something to do with that. :-)

Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well!

I will always love that photo. You were there in spirit, but I'm glad you were home and resting. I have so many pics to send you. I swear, I will work on it tomorrow. :)

Cool photo. :)

I'm more productive in the summer since I'm a teacher with time off. But I still get in my relaxation time.

RWA sounded fun! Almost made me wish I'd gone! Oh Natalie! Hope you're doing better and hanging in there. I had complications with my last two babies and was on bed rest for several weeks before delivery. THAT is not easy when you have other children who need your help and attention. But it goes so fast in the scope of life. I hardly remember it now! Hope you can enjoy the last month of summer! :-)

Regina said...

I have not been as productive as I would like to be. Too much going on. I'm glad that you and little bump are doing better. Love the photoshop pic. So cute.

Amy Tate said...

Um...I think you have a good excuse, Miss Natalie! There will be plenty of time for counting words. I'm so glad that you're hanging in there, and in just a few weeks, you'll be holding that precious baby. Praying for you, girl!

I haven't had a chance to do much blog reading lately - I'm so glad you're feeling better! I haven't been productive at all the entire summer, and was just thinking how I really have to seriously commit to writing regularly again.

That picture is terrific, lol. I'm so sorry you weren't able to come! I had the chance to meet Karen and wish I had had the chance to meet you, too. Hopefully next year!

That RWA photo is the one of the best things I've ever seen!!!

Hope you and your fam are all doing well.
