Loss

This was kind of a strange Thanksgiving for me. There was so much to be grateful for--time spent with my husband's extended family, my grandmother's 80th birthday, great food and good company. But there were things about it that were hard too. We stayed in a house without Internet access (for 5 days) and we were all sleep deprived and cranky most of the trip. I LOVE our family, but it's hard having the kids away from their beds for so long.

Then Saturday morning we received word that my cousin died in a hiking accident the day before. It's been a difficult couple days.

I've been trying to think of something to blog about today, but I feel drained. I'll try to be back to blogging Wednesday.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, or regular week (for those of you in other countries). :)

That's terrible. Hugs and prayers all around. I hope you can find some peace (and some sleep - I know it's hard to travel and sleep with little ones; I've got 5 with only 6 years from oldest to youngest).

Also, I sympathise with the crankiness of sleepy children away from home. Tricky...

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, Natalie! And I can totally relate to the cranky kids thing! We were on a trip earlier in the week and by the end, my two youngest were extremely tired and whiny! We were ready to get home!

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. It's too bad that it happened this time of year. My grandfather died right around Christmas time and my grandmother hated Christmas from then on. There was nothing we could do to turn it around.

My condolences. My great aunt passed away on Friday, but it wasn't unexpected. It's always worse when it's someone young.

I am SO SORRY about your cousin, Natalie. What a horrible out-of-nowhere tragedy. I can relate re spending the holiday with so many loved ones on one day and then facing life's sadness on the next. I spent part of my T-giving holiday visiting with a friend (my age) who's dying of cancer.

Very sorry for your loss. I appreciate the sympathy you offered me during my difficult week. It's so hard to lose someone who's apart of our life. I don't even like letting go of old friends. I always feel if someone has been apart of my life even if the time was brief - they should be apart of it forever. I believe in the eternal round of things they will be again.
